Country Music Gauteng (CMG) proudly presents #CountrySundays @ Musiekskuur THE MOTHERS DAY EDITION.
CountrySundays show at Musiekskuur on Mothers Day will feature the following artists:
Clive Bruce – “The Midnight Cowboy” and SA Country Legend. He is no stranger to the SA country music scene. Clive was one of the pioneers of Country Music in South Africa with more than 20 golden records making him one of our top country artists.
Jody Wayne – “The Pop Star” eternal teenager. Jody came to Rhodesia after spending some time in England. In 1965 he moved to Durban where he formed the band "Little Jo & The Travelers". 18 Months later after their break-up Jody formed "Jody Wayne Scene" which later became "Guys & Dolls". In the 70's Jody started producing and discovered artists like: Barbara Ray, Gwynneth Ashley Robins, Neil Herbert and The Stockley Sisters. In 1975 Jody played the lead role in "'Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" and continued to tour South Africa playing festivals and other shows. Jody is probably most famous for "The Wedding Song and Patches”
Sally Vaughn – “Mamma Country” In 1983 Sally earned a Sarie award with her songs "The Teddy Bear Song" and "With You" on her album "Mama Country" as Best Female Country Singer. By this time she was already known as "Mama Country", a title bestowed on her by Lance James. Lance decided to present Sally's rendition of "Glory Glory Hallelujah" to the American Country Music Association, and shortly thereafter Sally was invited to visit the USA. In June 1984 Sally performed in Nashville, Tennessee, at the annual Country Awards and received a standing ovation for her songs "Glory Glory Hallelujah" and "Somewhere Between". She was invited as one of the lead performers a year later and again received a standing ovation.
Bernie Williams – Four years ago Bernie decided to rekindle his passion for performing and started singing again after an absence of almost 10 years. Bernie continues to entertain the masses and sings songs from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, Afrikaans and Country. Bernie was part of the backing bands that performed at the Rand Show and Bapsfontein in the day when backing tracks did not exist.
Christo Louw – Christo is fast emerging as one of the most promising country artists on the South African Music Circuit. Christo brings back “Country Music Memories” and entertains with modern and traditional country songs. This emerging country star has had many years of experience and will bring you top entertainment to enjoy and sing along to.
So be sure not to miss this amazing show in the warm and intimate Musiekskuur venue, next to the Rockwood Theatre. This show will take place on MOTHERS DAY 13 May 2018 at 2pm.
